Here are some dos and don’ts to keep in mind before and after your tattoo appointment:

DO:

  • Research and choose a reputable and experienced tattoo artist who uses sterile equipment and follows proper safety protocols.
  • Choose a design that you are passionate about and that has personal meaning to you.
  • Communicate clearly with your tattoo artist about your design and any concerns or questions you may have.
  • Get a good night’s sleep and eat a healthy meal before your appointment.
  • Wear comfortable clothing that allows easy access to the area where you will be getting tattooed.
  • Stay still and follow your tattoo artist’s instructions during the process to ensure the best results.
  • Follow your tattoo artist’s aftercare instructions carefully to ensure proper healing and prevent infection.

DON’T:

  • Rush into getting a tattoo without doing proper research and planning.
  • Choose a design simply because it’s trendy or popular at the moment.
  • Drink alcohol or take drugs before your appointment, as they can thin your blood and make the process more difficult and painful.
  • Hesitate to speak up if you are uncomfortable or in pain during the process.
  • Touch or scratch your tattoo while it is healing, as this can introduce bacteria and prolong the healing process.
  • Expose your tattoo to direct sunlight, chlorinated or saltwater, or tight clothing during the healing process.
  • Pick or peel any scabs that may form on your tattoo, as this can cause scarring and damage to the design.
